Phase 1: Attend all group meetings and fill out all necessary paperwork – CHECK!
Phase 2: Buy the much needed warm attire (and other traveling necessities) needed to NOT become a Popsicle in the next five months – CHECK!
That’s right, friends. Much to my father’s delight, the “buying Phase” of my London prep is complete! I received my last order, a pair of “top quality” long underwear (before you laugh, remember that I get cold when it’s in the 70’s) via a surprisingly nice UPS Delivery man this afternoon. You know what that means? ON TO PHASE 3! This includes the equally fun task of planning out packing logistics! It’s much too early to pack, I know, but there is something to be said about having a plan to fit everything, instead of waiting till the night before to cram everything into my luggage at random and say a prayer that I’ll be able to remember where I put my toothpaste. The idea is that through a perfectly planned packing list and a series of strategic and supernatural packing moves (that I secretly call the Jackie Roll Series), I mentally pack everything I’ll be taking in each bag that I’ll be taking it in so that when it comes to Phase 4 of my 6 Phase plan (actually packing) it won’t take nearly as long as it otherwise would. As an obsessively organized person, I find this particular Phase extremely delightful.
With 44 days left until Phase 6 (departure), I’m finding myself very ready to be back in the routine of school and out of the heat, two things that await me in this next semester. But for now, I’m content with soaking up the sun, raking in the pay checks, and relaxing in my completely arbitrary summer routine. Hope you’re doing the same!
